Central to Glendalough House hospitality is the South Wing. Built entirely from granite that was quarried from within the Estate grounds in the 19th century, the South Wing is now decorated in a modern rustic style, sympathetic to its historical setting. Double height ceilings and mezzanine galleries give the South Wing a relaxed spacious feeling. Three informal lounge areas (two on mezzanines) are furnished with coffee tables, chairs and couches and can be used as extensions to The Fernery dining room and Childers Bar or as stand alone spaces.
With its modular layout, including dining room, private bar and commercial kitchen facilities, the South Wing is adaptable and offers turnkey solutions to corporate businesses and private groups wishing to host meetngs, functions, presentations, parties, celebrations or to stage live entertainment. The McMillan Suite, complete with inhouse PA and DJ equipment, provides the ideal space for holding all from projection to theatre styled presentation, workshops or demonstrations, and is a dedicated setting for live performances. To expand capacity or for further space, a marquee or tented solution can be connected to the South Wing via the Main Lawn or Lower Courtyard, offering the ultimate in versatility.
The South Wing enjoys views of the Lawns as well as some of the estate’s rolling parklands and surrounding landscapes. The Lawns are sheltered by the Main House and a mature Pinery, making for the perfect suntrap on clear days, ideal for activities and “Al Fresco” dining!
